DURATION 3:5 was a breakthrough video I filmed while driving through the Sonoran Desert in Arizona. In this work, I try to hold a moment within the movement: through the manipulation of the camera in a back-and-forth motion while following an object, I create a hyper-dynamic picture. It identifies and denounces the tragedy of the Saguaro. In the final sequence, I filmed a truck as it unexpectedly passed by me. It slowly inched forward, carrying a missile-like cactus away with a promise of it being transplanted, yet it approached its end: saguaros are unable to survive transplantation.
