This research project aimed to study effective ways to create a public, green LED platform beneath elevated structures in the city. Formed from the principals of Highlighting the Light (2003–2013), the project sought to facilitate a stream of art and information, and to become a broader global project that seeks to expand and integrate the fields of art, communication, education, and renewable energy. The loop of art and information touches down through urban planning and design: a virtual line feeds into LEDway platforms underneath elevated structures around the world, creating an instantaneous, wide-reaching and connective venue. An accompanying art and science program would commission local, national, and international organizations to “feed” the global-line, placing content on this virtual highway for a stipulated period of time.
