INSTANTtouch is a conceptual poem and the result of my participation in the design research collaborative ISpace. The group formed to study possible applications for the 1998 new material levagel, a plasticizer-free polyurethane gel completely atoxic (raw material patented formulation from Bayer AG Leverkusen licensed to Thechnogel®). Based on individual studies, each participant was given the opportunity to further develop a product design. INSTANTtouch, my main concept, envisioned users to experience ‘the touching of a body-like object, for an instant’ and resulted in Soffici, a door handle design produced by the Italian door handle manufacturer OLIVARI. The handle design was integrated to the Loisium Hotel in Langalois in Austria in 2006.
