transitio series
A Global Dialogue of a City within a City, 2000-2008
TRANSITIO, first envisioned in the year 2000, is a public art series addressing the unlimited possibilities of a global, cultural exchange in which video projection onto cityscapes creates a dialogue of a ‘city within a city.’ Ten cities have been filmed and three public exchanges or dialogues have taken place: in Beirut (2004), New York (2005), and Miami (2006). While integrating the virtual and the real, TRANSITIO is a communication art piece in the public art realm. It is expressed as an outdoor event but not limited to it—the Internet, press, and engaged cities (‘cities’ interested in the ongoing project) are integral part of the piece.
