painting Berlin Works on Paper 1989-1994 While in Berlin, I produced works on paper including pigment paintings and conceptual drawings. Many of these continued my explorations of intermediacy—such as the diagonal system project—first initiated in Brazil in 1987. The asymmetrical square has an independent life, freedom of action and it is capable to interfere in its surroundings. Its form transforms according to the capability of mutation of its basic matter and the said interference of the surroundings in which possibly - old-fashion - teilnehmer (participant) may partake in this event. The event proceeds so quickly that teilnehmer and the A.S. itself loose themselves in the spherical ambiance. View fullsize The spherical ambient etherizes - speed takes place - concrete . And there it is the pure diagonal, synthesis of the event of the freedom of A.S. or Cosmic Square. In the second phase the diagonal frees itself from the participant (archaic) and releases itself to the Metacosmos... The story unfolds unendingly. The Flying Gelatin isn’t gelatin any longer, now a heavy block of mutating matter.
