From 2000 to 2006, I filmed cities from a passenger’s point of view, a filming format based on the video Duration 3:5. The series is cumulative, its form of filming based on the absorption of reality. From highly dynamic action to a standstill caused by counter movements to fluctuating zooms, it produces a wide range of imagery. The video absorbs images through an open channel, accumulating instances of reality brought about by an impulse, a reaction to a random passage. When looking at the material through a photographic lens, I ponder if the act of photographing takes place only afterwards at the time of the material’s review. When revisited, it may show itself differently each time and so is endless.

Below is a small selection of imagery from some of the ten filmed cities, including Beirut, Tokyo, Nanning and Shanghai in China. Other filmed cities were London, Istanbul, Mexico City, New York, Paris, and Rio de Janeiro.
